There is plenty of blame to go around for the decline of print, but it certainly cannot, at least in beer reporting, be blamed on bloggers. The thing that has really killed print publications is advertising declines resulting from "free" internet sites like Craigslist.org and other online advertising.<br />We vote with our mouse Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07522969360434191018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21271644.post-21245420298135742172009-08-03T22:09:57.268-07:002009-08-03T22:09:57.268-07:00Yah, I hope people don't expect bloggers to be...Yah, I hope people don't expect bloggers to be writers. Lets just leave it at the bloggers that are also writers have a leg up on the field. Sort of like the bloggers that are also photographers (portlandbeer.org) also have a leg up. In this day and age of instantaneous web access and rush to be the first to break a story, I find more and more articles showing up online that clearly did not go through editing. More disturbing is the use of news blogs from newspaper websites that are devoid of content. On the other hand, if you look through the national beer bloggers I link, most do print writing, too. A few, like Lew and Stan, are versed in the long form (books) and may actually earn something for their labors. As a homebrewer and craft beer advocate, I find it infinitely more rewarding to stretch my brain and strengthen my writing skills focusing on something I'm truly passionate about.Aaronhttp://captainsbeerblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21271644.post-91626796402279810332009-08-03T12:21:58.711-07:002009-08-03T12:21:58.711-07:00Why stop at blogs? hasn't the same poetry and ...Why stop at blogs? hasn't the same poetry and craft been lost in twitter posts and text messages?
