At the time, the options in those towns were pretty much Deschutes, Rogue and Widmer.

It's stunning when I go back to see Block 15 and Ninkasi. Ain't no stopping the SBV (Southern Beervana Valley, eventually I'll get the term to stick).

Actually, while craft brewing has been on a rise here, the local beer culture is on a crazy exponential curve.

Mike @ 16 Tons put it best a few weeks ago when Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06493321326831765055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21271644.post-24450764722796197602011-02-23T11:00:16.999-08:002011-02-23T11:00:16.999-08:00Congratulations on five years! I hoped to do a better job than some of the Portland beer websites at that time (Guest *cough* On *cough* ...), but I only hoped to be somewhat complementary to Beervana. And that's still the case, even though people came along Bill Nighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09202318621724165312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21271644.post-81971639803304265332011-02-23T10:27:19.543-08:002011-02-23T10:27:19.543-08:00Oh, and happy 5th anniversary!Oh, and happy 5th anniversary!Patrick Emersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17242234148546323374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21271644.post-23149036613902995732011-02-23T10:26:44.406-08:002011-02-23T10:26:44.406-08:00My metric is the availability of quality craft bee...My metric is the availability of quality craft beer in restaurants, traditional bars and other unlikely outlets. It is almost impossible to go into any establishment in Portland that has a license to serve beer and not find a quality craft beer - and not just from the biguns (Full Sail, Widmer, Deschutes, etc.) either. This is a fairly new phenomenon and signals that craft beer enthusiasts are Patrick Emersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17242234148546323374noreply@blogger.com
