Craft Beer Month

Governor Kulongoski has declared July Craft Beer Month in Oregon (though rather quietly--aside from an insert in the Oregonian, I can find no evidence of it in the news or on the state website). In anticipation of the busiest month of the year, I'm putting out the first part of my Portland brewpubs review (see below). It's broken into three parts--best beer, best experience, best food--and the thing is just going on forever. So today it's the Best Beer section. Forthcoming sections as they're written.

Summer starts on July 1 in the Northwest, and temperatures are supposed to hit 78. A great day to fire up the grill and crack a cold one. Remember to hoist a toast to the fine brewers who make the best beer on earth. Cheers!

  1. Just a slight correction: Summer starts on July 5th in Oregon. I say that because the night of July 4th is always 42 degrees. Well, that's what I tell the tourists.

  2. Yeah, you're right about that. The first fourth of July I spent in Portland ('87) it was about 62 degrees and rainy. I was shocked. Then things cleared up...
