The Summer of Lagers

Lagerfest
White Owl Social Club, 1305 SE 8th
Sat-Sun 11a to 9p
$20 = mug & 10 tix
Adults only

There haven't been this many lagers in Oregon since Weinhard bit the dust.  I don't know what Jung would say about it, but I know there's something in the collective unconscious.  I go to Germany and the Czech Republic, develop some kind of persistent lager itch, and glory be--brewers back home offer dozens of chances to scratch it.  If you have not, like me, been hoovering up these fine tipples, you have an excellent opportunity over the weekend: Lagerfest, an inaugural effort at showcasing some of these little lovelies.  You will see over to the right a list of the beers (click to enlarge), and therefore observe that it's long enough that even if you have been hoovering, there's plenty of reasons yet to go.

It was a well-run fest, except for the fact that they were only pouring half the beers at a time, and there was no indication in their posters/promo material that this would be the case. Only 1 of the Base Camp beers was pouring, and the none of the things I was looking forward to trying for the first time (10 Barrel, Burnside, Bridgeport, Ft George, Lompoc Saaz All, and a couple others) were pouring when we went on Saturday.

I'm not sure if this is an attempt to save money buy only renting one reefer truck, or a sneaky way of trying to get people to come both days, but either way I wasn't a fan of the system.

NOTE: Blogspot has been eating some comments, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. IF your comment doesn't appear, it's not you, it's not me, it's the genuiuses at Google. Sorry--
