Portland International Film Fest

Man cannot live on beer alone--he requires movies as well. (And she, of course.) My favorite non-beer event every year is the Portland International Film Fest, which kicked off on Thursday. I caught a very grim Italian movie last night (Cannes Grand Prix winner Gomorra) and have tickets to a Belgian and Austrian movie this evening. If you're a film fan, do yourself a favor and catch one or two (or 17) of the offerings. Filmmakers in other countries don't think the way we do, so the narratives unfold differently; the effect is mood-changing and wonderful.

Now, if you're the kind of person who can't live by movies alone, you're in luck. Take your ticket to BridgePort the night of the showing and they'll sell you a pint for a buck and a quarter. An honest pint, at that. You'll find no better deal in town.

"Action!"

  1. If it is the same film (Gomorra -http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0929425/) that I have seen...I thought it was great. Cheers m8!
