Pop Quiz

Today's topic: mild ale. Select the most-correct statement:

  1. "Originally, in the 18th century, milds were a welcome and refreshing alternative to the more intense, darker beers usually offered to the urban workforce."
  2. "Mild isn't necessarily meek. Or dark. Or lightly-hopped even. All of those characteristics are 20th century innovations. We're going back to a proper Mild. Beers brewed when Queen Victoria was still a randy teenager."

The answer comment, is here.* Quote source for item one here.

*Excepting, of course, the "randy teenager" bit. I'm pretty sure Ron is speculating there.

  1. I was really amused by that and commented on Ron's blog. It's good to see that CAMRA can be as bone headed as the typical homebrewer who's drunk the BJCP Kool-aid.

Ask Ron for a source on the randy teenager part - knowing him it's likely somewhere in his library.
